Marama White
In stock — slabs in the gallery
Marama White — a bright white marble with fine, uniform grey striping in the Marmara style. Calm, linear pattern suited to large continuous floors. In stock at our Kochi and Thiruvalla galleries.
Marama White: calm, linear white marble
Marama White is sold for a specific look that Volakas, Carrara and the more dramatically veined marbles don’t offer: a bright white ground with fine, straight, evenly spaced grey lines running in one direction, rather than the irregular, cloud-like veining those stones carry. It’s the marble equivalent of choosing a plain weave over a busy print — a deliberate choice for restraint.
Why the pattern matters more than it sounds
Irregular veining is beautiful on a single feature wall, but it varies dramatically from slab to slab — which shows at every joint across a large floor. A linear, striped pattern like this one repeats far more predictably, which is exactly why designers reach for it on long corridors, large open-plan living areas, and commercial lobbies where visual consistency across many square metres matters more than any one slab’s individual character.
Sourcing note
This stone is marketed under the Marama / Marmara White name across Indian stone catalogues, describing a style rather than one fixed quarry — sourcing for a given container shipment can vary. If a specific origin and certificate matters for your project (an architect’s spec often requires it), ask our gallery team for the documentation on the current lot before you commit; we hold it, we just want to give you the right paperwork for the actual slabs in front of you rather than a generic answer.
Where it works, and where it doesn’t
Strong on flooring, bathroom walls, and feature cladding in large continuous runs. Like every calcite marble it etches on contact with acid, so we would not put it on a working kitchen counter in a household that cooks with tamarind and lime daily — granite or quartzite handles that exposure better.
Living with it
Honed rather than polished for any floor — less slippery underfoot through Kerala’s long monsoon months, and more forgiving of the fine scratching marble floors develop over time. Seal on installation and annually after, and clean with a pH-neutral product only.
